Sake Experience 2013

Sushi Experience at Hyper Japan

Diverse line-up of breweries back for Europe’s biggest public tasting event

Get ready for Sake Experience 2013, Europe’s biggest public tasting event for sake, where you can try, learn, buy, and vote as you enjoy Japan’s most traditional tipple. We’re delighted to announce that 11 breweries will be taking part in the event this year, bringing with them more than 20 varieties of made-in-Japan sake and liqueurs.

This year’s line-up includes a broader range than ever before, covering everything from old-school stalwarts to new and innovative styles of sake and fruit-based liqueurs. It’s an unparalleled opportunity to try out a wide variety of sake in a single setting—discover your favourite from among the following:

  • Dassai 23, a junmai daiginjo twice-crowned People’s Favourite Sake at previous HYPER JAPAN events
  • Junmaishu traditionally made for a smooth texture and beautiful sweet-sour balance
  • Junmai ginjo produced with a strong focus on terroir, using only local rice, water and koji
  • Junmai ginjo with gorgeous clarity, produced from the nakagumi, in other words the sake, considered to be best in quality, released after the first run during the initial filtration process
  • Nigori (cloudy) sake that’s thick and creamy and pairs well with many British dishes, even haggis
  • Sake matured over a long period, with a velvet-like mouth feel and mellow aroma
  • Sparkling sake which combines the sweet and gentle flavour of rice with natural gas for softly sweet bubbles with a hint of sourness for balance
  • Sparkling umeshu (plum liqueur) blended with white wine for a clear and crisp taste
  • Peach liqueur containing beauty-boosting hyaluronic acid
  • As well as being able to purchase bottles of sake, you can take part in the public vote and be in with a chance of winning a prize in our lucky dip. Natsuki Kikuya, former sommelier at Roka and Zuma and the founder of the Museum of Sake, a sake education and PR agency, will also be at the event holding sake seminars.
