Using Wasabi Sauce

Atsuko Ikeda's Tips

Wasabi is best known for being served with sushi and sashimi, but it's also suited to lots of other dishes - Japanese and Western alike - too.  See Fresh Tuna and Avocado Don with S&B Wasabi Sauce

You may wonder why wasabi is always served with sushi and sashimi. Well, it’s been scientifically proven to have sterilizing properties that work effectively on raw fish. Aside from sushi, wasabi’s distinctive sharp and peppery flavour brings a bit of flair to ordinary dishes too. S&B Wasabi Sauce has a milder flavour and creamier texture than normal wasabi, and has no lingering sharpness. It’s fantastic squeezed straight over fish cakes, steak or sandwiches for a change in everyday taste. For wasabi soy sauce dressing, mix 2 tbsp olive oil, 2 tbsp soy sauce, 2 tbsp mirin, 1 tbsp rice vinegar, and 1 tbsp S&B Wasabi Sauce (you can also add toasted sesame seeds or nuts).
